Astley & Tyldesley will stage their opening cycle speedway match of the 2012 season at the Gin Pit Raceway on Sunday 25 March. Astley & Tyldesley have re-entered the Northern Combination League and will be staging a double header meeting, taking on , followed by .

Astley & Tyldesley welcome back several returning riders to provide experience to the squad in Martin Phillips, Roy Heslop, Beccy Heslop and Ron Makin. These will team up with the older junior riders in Sacha Street, Joel Partington, Adam Phillips and Reece Pollitt. The club's younger end have impressed in pre-season training and Stefan Whitelegg, Daniel Burns, Max Evans, Tom Whitwam and Matt Snell will be valuable members of the Astley & Tyldesley squad this season.

The club has given the track a new top surface this winter, using up the remaining shale supply from a major re-surfacing a few years ago. It has held up really well throughout the pre-season training sessions and this should continue throughout the racing season.

In addition, club training sessions take place every Tuesday at 7 pm. Existing club and prospective new members are welcome to attend the training sessions.
