Coventry Cycle Speedway club have announced a new look club governance structure following a successful club annual general meeting held in the Godiva city last weekend.

The Hearsall Common based club are fast gearing for their return to competitive racing following their successful application to rejoin the Midland League for the 2012 season, after four years on the sidelines.

The main outcome of the AGM sees a combination of experienced administrators joined by several new officials, mainly parents of the new juniors that made an impact after the revival took off last year. Dave Foster, who has served the sport for 40 years in the city, was elected club chairman. Jez Huges continues as secretary but Richard Burnett, an accountant, and father of rising junior starlet Macauley, takes over the financial matters as treasurer from long serving Lorraine Pointer.

On the team management front, well known figure Steve Bromwich, who led Coventry to a league title triumph in 2006, was installed as first team manager. Former Irish international Rob McGuire will combine the junior managers role with club skipper Dave Frith.

Elsewhere, another newcomer, Dawn McCarroll, becomes the club’s welfare officer, Liam McGuire will manage the club website, whilst yet another new volunteer, Karl Slatter, will be the official first aid officer. In a further move to strengthen their administration, the club’s popular Wednesday night club night, aimed at attracting even more new members, will be managed by Frith, Myke Grimes and Norman Venson, who will become accredited to manage the activity and adopt best practice.

The club are also accelerating their efforts to become a British Cycling Go-Ride club. Coventry also confirmed that arrangements for the arrival of new signing Konrad Piatek, from Czestochowa, Poland, had been made. He will arrive into the UK ahead of the first Coventry Midland League match at home to Stoke on Sunday 25 March 2012.
