We've heard the very sad news that Don Povall has died suddenly at the age of 63.

Don was a giant of the cycling scene in the North West region, holding numerous roles within his club, New Brighton and the region, where he was treasurer. He was also a commissaire, coach and was recently involved in the drafting of British Cycling's new discipliary code.

Everyone at British Cycling would like to pass on their condolences to Don's family and friends.

British Cycling's President Brian Cookson paid tribute to Don after hearing the news: "This is such sad news. Don gave so much to our sport and made so many good friends. He will be sorely missed by all of us."
