Anna Henderson stormed to Ryedale Grand Prix glory as she capped off the HSBC UK | National Women’s Road Series in style.

In treacherous conditions, a tightly packed field made its way around the technical Ryedale circuit before Henderson made her move, beating Anna Christian to the crown as Mary Wilkinson rounded off the podium spots.

Sophie Wright had an unassailable leading into the season finale in Yorkshire - 31 points clear of the field with 30 points the maximum on offer.

But there was still plenty on offer including the race for the team title as Storey Racing led the way.

The rain came teeming down as the peloton made its way towards Milking Hill - Annabel Fisher the first to make a substantial attack.

The peloton closed before the end of lap one but Fisher, flanked by Team Torelli’s Alice Sharpe, made a second breakaway.

That was short-lived before Leah Dixon held out a 12-second advantage heading into the halfway stage.

Yet the peloton continued to catch any leaders until the peloton splintered as riders took on the technical twists and turns of Ryedale.

Rebecca Durrell had been aiming for a podium place but a mechanical issue meant she was playing catch up as a lead group of 15 riders pulled away.

That was the opportunity for Henderson and Christian to make their move as they established a 30-second lead over the pack.

Working together to maintain their lead, Henderson then made a charge in the closing stages, seeing off a hardworking Christian to take all 30 points.

Wilkinson then led the chasing pack through to take the final podium spot on a wet and windy Ryedale.

That result means Henderson finished second in the overall rankings, just one point shy of Wright’s tally – Nicola Juniper finishing third overall with 101 points.

In the overall team standings, Storey Racing confirmed their victory as they produced six podiums from six races in a stellar campaign.

Their points haul of 319, comfortably clear of NJC-Biemme-Echelon with Team Breeze finishing third.
