The penultimate round of the 2018 HSBC UK | Grand Prix Series takes place this Sunday with the popular Leicester Castle Classic.
The race is part of a weekend of cycling in the city – with HSBC UK Let’s Ride Leicester taking place following the conclusion of the elite race.
About the HSBC UK | Grand Prix Series
The HSBC UK | Grand Prix Series is a five-part race series taking place throughout June, July and August. The series kicked off with the two-day race at the Tour of the Reservoir, before one-day events in Bristol and Stockton.
Following this weekend’s race in Leicester, the series concludes on 26 August in Ryedale.
The course
The race starts and finishes on Western Boulevard and sees riders head around the city for 20 laps over 80 kilometres.
As the event name suggests, riders will loop around Leicester Castle and also ride around the King Power Stadium – home of the 2015/16 Premier League champions Leicester City.
Ones to watch
Newly crowned national road race champion Connor Swift currently leads the standings after three races and will be hopeful of extending his lead in Leicester.
The Madison Genesis rider is in strong form but knows a number of his rivals will be in action in the East Midlands.
Tom Moses (JLT Condor) will look to climb the standings, with Joey Walker of Team Wiggins – winner of the final round of the HSBC UK | National Circuit Series – a threat on the day.
