Ethan Vernon, Lusia Steele, Oscar Nilsson-Julien and Emma Finucane both won their second titles of the week on day three of the HSBC UK | National Youth and Junior Track Championships.

Vernon teamed up with Will Tidball to produce a dominant display to win Madison gold.

The young pair scored points on every sprint bar the final one to finish on 38 points – Vernon claiming his second title of the week following the individual pursuit.

Lewis Askey and Alfred George won silver on 31 points, with Oliver Rees and Samuel Watson taking bronze.

Lusia Steele made it two gold medals for the week with a brilliant effort in the 500m time trial.

The Glasgow CT rider stopped the clock in 36.513, just pipping Ellie Russell to the title, with the Team Backstedt-Hotchillee rider finishing in 36.770.

Sportcity Velo’s Alexandra Novacki finished third.

In the under-16 boys’ points race, Oscar Nilsson-Julien continued his good week in Newport with a fantastic performance to win gold.

The VC Londres rider took 20 points in total, nine clear of his nearest rival.

Silver went to Bike Box Alan’s Max Poole with Robert Donaldson (Giant Halifax RT) winning bronze.

In the under-16 girls’ scratch race, Emma Finucane topped the podium once more for Towy Riders.

Finucane’s teammate Eluned King took silver with CT OnForm’s Sophie Lewis finishing third.

Elsewhere, Jack Cruden took the junior men’s keirin title on a fast and frenetic day of racing in Newport.

The Glasgow CT rider pipped Ali Fielding (Slingshot) to gold, with Team Terminator’s Daniel Cooper taking bronze.

Elynor Backstedt and Ellie Russell teamed up to take the junior women’s Madison title in the closest possible finish.

The duo finished on 31 points, as did Anna Docherty and Georgi Pfeiffer, but it was Backstedt and Russell who took the gold by virtue of winning the final sprint.

Bronze went to Georgia Ashworth and Ella Barnwell.
