British Cycling has announced Dame Sarah Storey as the latest name confirmed to take part in the forthcoming HSBC UK | National Road Championships.

The 14-time Paralympic champion will line up for the time trial (June 28) and road race (July 1) events in Northumberland, as Britain’s best cyclists do battle for the coveted red, white and blue national champions’ jerseys.

Earlier this week, British Cycling confirmed that Steve Cummings will defend his men’s time trial and road race titles, and that Olympic, world and Commonwealth track champion Katie Archibald will seek to upgrade the time trial bronze and road race silver that she won on the Isle of Man last year.

Storey, who will ride for Storey Racing, has recently returned from maternity leave following the birth of her second child, and will be looking to add a national road title to a palmares which already includes nine Paralympic titles (in addition to five won as a swimmer), 23 world titles and six national titles on the track.

This year’s HSBC UK | National Road Championships be hosted by the popular Cyclone Cycling Festival. The elite events – Thursday’s time trials and Sunday’s road races – will sandwich mass participation events on the Friday and Saturday, which will allow members of the public, regardless of ability, to take part in what promises to be a true festival of cycling.

Further information on the championships, and details of how to enter the mass participation events, are available here.

The road race action will be broadcast on ITV, with highlights of the women’s road race and live culmination of the men’s race being shown from 3pm on Sunday July 1. The programme will then be available on the ITV Hub for 27 days after the event.
