The 2018 HSBC UK | Spring Cup Series continues on Sunday 15 April with round two of this year’s competition taking place in the north-east.

The East Cleveland Klondike hosts the second of three rounds with a strong lineup of riders set for action.

About the series

The HSBC UK | Spring Cup Series is a three-round British road race series which runs throughout April and May and sees riders compete across a variety of courses.

The series opened earlier this month with the Chorley Grand Prix - with One Pro Cycling’s Karol Domagalski taking the win in Lancashire.

This weekend sees the second round take place at the East Cleveland Klondike.

The final round of the series is held at the ever-popular Lincoln Grand Prix on Sunday 13 May.

As well as individual honours for riders, teams also aim to come out on top in the team standings.

Riders will take to the North Yorkshire roads for a gruelling 159.3 kilometres - or 99 miles - of racing with a number of challenging climbs and descents.

Starting and finishing in Guisborough, the route heads north through Dunsdale and New Marske before beginning three laps of the long circuit - taking in Boosbeck, Lingdale, Carlin How, Loftus, Liverton and Saltburn-by-the-Sea.

The final lap of the short circuit sees riders head straight from Lingdale to Saltburn-by-the-Sea, before racing back to Guisborough for the finish via Boosbeck.

What happened last year

On the first-ever running of the East Cleveland Klondike, then Team Wiggins rider Chris Latham took a wonderful victory.

His teammate Karol Domagalski leads the individual standings after victory in Chorley earlier this month and could go some way towards securing the HSBC UK | Spring Cup Series title with a strong showing.

Canyon Eisberg have a star-studded lineup with Commonwealth medal winning riders Harry and Charlie Tanfield joined by Andy Tennant while Ollie Wood and Ian Bibby return to domestic action after also representing Team England on the Gold Coast.

Madison Genesis lead the team standings after one race with Erick Rowsell and Connor Swift in good form - both securing top ten finishes at the CiCLE Classic.

Gabriel Cullaigh was the race winner in the East Midlands and will be in action again in North Yorkshire - joined by, among others, Tom Pidcock.
