British Cycling has named the Great Britain Cycling Team that will compete at the UCI Manchester Para-cycling International at the HSBC UK National Cycling Centre in Manchester from 24-26 November.

Paralympic and world champion Jody Cundy will be in action in the kilo, scratch race and individual pursuit, as well as the team sprint alongside Jon Allan Butterworth and Louis Rolfe.

Jon Gildea returns to track competition for the first time since becoming a double world champion earlier this year, while Megan Giglia also returns after an injury interrupted 2017.

The team will have five tandem bikes in action. Double world champions James Ball and pilot Matt Rotherham will face off against Neil Fachie and the returning Pete Mitchell in the tandem kilo and sprint events, while Steve Bate and Adam Duggleby will be aiming to impress in the tandem pursuit.

Sophie Thornhill and Helen Scott resume a partnership that has seen them win Paralympic, world and Commonwealth titles, in the tandem sprint events while Lora Fachie and Corrine Hall will also be in action.

Great Britain Cycling Team's Ben Watson will make his debut for the team on the track at the UCI Manchester Para-cycling International

After impressing on the road, Ben Watson and Will Bjergfelt, will both make their debuts for the team on the track, while Dave Smith returns following a two year absence.

Crystal Lane-Wright will also be back on track for the first time since winning silver in the individual pursuit at the Paralympics.

Seven-time Paralympic gold medallist Jody Cundy is looking forward to competing in the rainbow stripes:

“I’m really looking forward to getting back on the track and getting stuck into racing. The opportunities to compete on the track are few and far between so to get the chance to wear the rainbow stripes in competition is an honour for any cyclist.

“It should be a great weekend of racing and I’d encourage any fans of cycling to come and see some of the best para-cyclists in the world compete for absolutely free.”

Great Britain Cycling Team para-cycling programmes manager, Jon Pett, said:

“The team have enjoyed a really successful year in 2017, achieving multiple medals on the track and the road.

“With attention now turning towards securing qualifying points for Tokyo 2020 from 2018 we felt it was vital to get our riders some much needed competitive action as the preparations for the 2018 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships start to ramp up.”
