The 2017/18 Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup begins this weekend in Pruszkow, with 14 riders set to compete for the Great Britain Cycling Team and 100% me.

Newly-crowned European Madison champion Elinor Barker heads a strong team travelling to Poland for three days of track racing.

About the Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup

The Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup is a five-round competition which takes place between November and January.

The 2017/18 series begins in Pruszkow, Poland from 3-5 November before heading to the home of British Cycling at the HSBC UK National Cycling Centre for round two in Manchester one week later.

Round three takes place from 1-3 December in Milton, Canada with the fourth round a week later in Santiago, Chile.

The series concludes in the new year, with the fifth and final round taking place in Minsk, Belarus, from 19-21 January.

Riders will do battle to be crowned world cup winners in individual disciplines, with an overall team prize also up for grabs.

As well as world cup honours, valuable qualification points for future world championships are also available throughout the series.

The team

Endurance

14 riders have been selected to represent the Great Britain Cycling Team and 100% me in Pruszkow.

A five-strong women’s endurance squad travels to Poland, with Olympic, world and European champion Elinor Barker the senior member of the team.

Barker - who won her eighth world and continental title at the UEC European Track Championships in Berlin - is set to ride the omnium in Poland.

Great Britain Cycling Team's Emily Nelson

Emily Nelson and Emily Kay will team up to race the Madison, with Nelson also on points race duty.

Manon Lloyd will compete in the individual pursuit, with Neah Evans - selected for her second world cup for the Great Britain Cycling Team - taking on the scratch race.

All five women are in the squad for the team pursuit, with selections due to be made nearer to the competition.

Chris Latham is Great Britain Cycling Team’s sole representative in the men’s endurance events; the world championships bronze medallist will be riding the omnium in Pruszkow.

Senior Academy riders Matt Bostock and Joe Holt will ride in 100% me colours in Poland and will pair up for the Madison - with Bostock also riding the points race and Holt selected for the scratch race.

Sprint

Sophie Capewell will make her first appearance for Great Britain Cycling Team at a world cup as she lines up alongside Olympic bronze medallist Katy Marchant for the team sprint.

Great Britain Cycling Team's Katy Marchant

Marchant has a busy weekend lined up as she also competes in both the sprint and the keirin.

Almost exactly a year since their stunning world cup debut in Glasgow, the team sprint trio of Jack Carlin, Ryan Owens and Joe Truman line up again in Pruszkow.

The three young sprinters won world cup gold in Scotland twelve months ago and will reunite in Poland looking for a similar start to the season.

In the individual sprint, Truman and Owens will race for the Great Britain Cycling Team, with double Olympic champion Phil Hindes lining up for 100% me.

A back injury sustained during the 1km time trial qualification at the UEC European Track Championships rules Callum Skinner out of round one of the world cup - the Olympic team sprint champion doesn’t travel to Poland as a precautionary measure to ensure he is fully fit for round two in Manchester - with Carlin taking his place in the keirin.
