The penultimate round of the 2017 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup takes place this weekend in Canada.

The legendary Mont-Sainte-Anne trails will host both downhill and cross-country competitions with a number of British riders in action ahead of the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Australia.

Cross-country

Fresh from her historic victory in the last round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, Annie Last heads to Quebec in terrific form.

Last (OMX Pro Team) won her sixth national title at last month’s HSBC UK | National Cross-country Championships in Cannock and currently sits sixth in the world cup standings with two rounds remaining, after ending a 20-year wait for a British elite women’s win at a world cup.

In the elite men’s competition, Grant Ferguson (CST Sandd American Eagle MTB Racing Team) is Britain’s sole representative.

Like Last, Ferguson had domestic success last month winning his fifth consecutive national title.

OMX Pro Team’s Isla Short will also be in action in Canada in the under-23 women’s competition.

Downhill

World champion Rachel Atherton heads to Mont-Sainte-Anne in search of her first win on the world stage since suffering a shoulder injury at Fort William earlier this season.

Atherton finished second at Lenzerheide last month and is currently fifth in the world cup standings.

Currently ahead of the Trek Factory Racing DH rider are two fellow British downhill stars - with Tahnee Seagrave third in the standings following her maiden world cup win in Leogang in June.

The Transition Bikes / FMD Factory Racing rider will be joined in Canada by Radon Factory Downhill Team’s Manon Carpenter, currently fourth in the standings - with all three riders set for Australia’s world championships next month.

Reigning world champion Danny Hart will give the rainbow stripes another run out in Quebec, looking to improve his position in the world cup standings.

Hart is up to seventh after back-to-back third-place finishes and the MS Mondraker Team rider is the highest ranked British rider this season so far, one place above teammate Laurie Greenland.

Philip Atwell (Propain Dirt Zelvy), currently 13th in the standings, is among those riders set to represent Great Britain Cycling Team at next month’s world championships and national champion Greg Williamson (Cube Global Squad protected by Bliss) will also take to the start gate in Canada.
