Brenton Jones made it two wins from five rounds of the HSBC UK | National Circuit Series after taking a sprint finish on the line at the Beverley Grand Prix.
The Australian had already won in Stockton last week, and made it back to back Circuit Series wins on a night dominated by his JLT Condor teammates.
His sprint was timed perfectly to take the win ahead of teammate and series leader Matt Gibson, with BIKE Channel Canyon’s Harry Tanfield in third.
Perfectly executed plan
Boasting the series leader and wins in two of the four rounds heading into the night, circuit racing specialists JLT Condor were looking to make up for missing out in the HSBC UK | National Circuit Championships, on Wednesday.
An hour of racing was typified by the sight of the their navy and maroon jerseys pounding away at the head of the race.
As such riders found it near impossible to break away and, when they did, they were quickly brought to heel by the strongest team in the race.
Team Raleigh GAC were the first team to hit the front, however, with Adria Moreno trying to escape the bunch on more than one occasion.
However, after more than half an hour’s racing there had still not been a break with more than a second or two’s gap.

Next to have a go was Tanfield, which sparked a counter attack by Gibson but once the JLT Condor man had pegged back the attack they were quickly brought back into the bunch.
Moreno once again attacked solo with less than 20 minutes to go, and he stretched his gap out to more than five seconds, but despite Madison Genesis’ Matt Holmes trying to join him, JLT Condor still reeled the duo in.
They continued to set a searing pace on the front of the bunch until the final few laps, at which point their own Jon Mould launched a solo dig for the line.
He was caught on the final circuit, though, and when Jones kicked he had too much for his rivals – just – eventually coming across the line fractionally ahead of Gibson and Tanfield.
