If you are over 16 and passionate about cycling, step up to the National Youth Forum and help to shape the future of the sport

We started the National Youth Forum (NYF) three years ago to help young people within cycling to develop opportunities for their peers. Whether that means riding, racing or volunteering, the forum takes on exciting projects to make a difference.

Since 2013, the group of 12 proactive young volunteers has had great success, with work including the organisation of the first women-only Go-Ride race, volunteering at large scale events such as the 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships and supporting the work of our coaching team to develop new initiatives.

Make a difference this year

We are looking for new members to join the group for 2016/17, so if the Forum's activity has grabbed your attention then we would love to hear from you.

First of all, take a look at a description of the role to find out if it’s for you. The next step would then be to complete an application form and send this to youngvolunteers@britishcycling.org.uk.

The closing date is Friday 29 April, so make sure you get your application submitted in time. You can also talk through the opportunity with Kelly Burdett, the senior development officer from British Cycling who works closely with the NYF. To get in touch, email youngvolunteers@britishcycling.org.uk or call 0161 274 2126.

Tell me more

As a member of the forum, you would be representing the interests of young people within cycling and helping to develop future opportunities. A good knowledge and understanding of the issues that your peers face, along with understanding of current programmes available for young people is therefore essential.

If you are passionate about cycling and committed to ensuring that young people remain involved in its development, this is a unique opportunity for you to gain an insight into British Cycling and have an influence on the sport’s national governing body.

The National Youth Forum meets five times a year over weekends at venues across England including London, Birmingham and Manchester, while also maintaining a collaborative online community throughout the year. The final forum will be at your local Go-Ride Conference in March 2017. Travel expenses for all meetings will be covered by British Cycling, but you will be responsible for arranging your own travel.
