Adidas and British Cycling are celebrating 10 years of working together with the launch of a brand new team kit.
The kit – which will be worn by the Great Britain Cycling Team as they continue their preparations for Rio 2016 – features an advanced aerodynamic design and level of comfort required for competition at the highest level. Retaining the key ‘bolero’ feature which is designed to deliver maximum speed and efficiency for the rider, the jersey also keeps the union jack wraparound and reflective panels.
Since the partnership began in 2005, the Great Britain Cycling Team has achieved unprecedented success, becoming a global powerhouse in the sport. Their medal haul across 10 years stands at 306, spanning Olympic, Paralympic, and World Championship competitions. They have established the team as an international byword for excellence and inspired millions of people across Britain to ride their bikes more often.
The Great Britain Cycling Team’s double Olympic and five time world Champion, Laura Trott, said:
“It has been amazing to be part of this golden age for British Cycling and adidas has been by our side all the way. Knowing we are riding in the best kit possible gives you that extra confidence and edge over competitors and enhances the sense of pride you enjoy when you represent your country.”
Nelson Madlangbayan, head of adidas cycling products, has been the driving force behind the technical development of the kit and believes adidas will continue to lead the way in creating innovative designs to help improve the team’s performance:
“We’re always testing kit and looking at new ways to help improve the rider’s performance. The kit we’ve got right now is the best we’ve produced over the 10 year’s of working with British Cycling and we will never stop trying to innovate further in line with the team’s successes. The range has everything an elite performer needs, and the replica allows fans of the team to experience the same technologies and design features during their rides and races.”
The latest formotion patterns and ClimaCool technologies are incorporated to ensure optimal movement and comfort for the wearer. Elastic grippers feature across the range to ensure that the apparel doesn’t slip out of place when you move.
Replica kit can be purchased online from the adidas website. A 20% discount for British Cycling members is avaliable until 3 September 2015.
