Rachel Atherton took a spectacular third consecutive win at the latest round of the UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.

Atherton won the fourth round of the season-long competition and extended her overall lead in the series to 165 points ahead of Frenchwoman Emmeline Ragot.

Ragot was faster than Atherton at the first split but she went over the limit, resulting in a huge mistake followed by a crash.

Manon Carpenter finished second – her best result of the season to date after a crash in Fort William and disqualification in Leogang.

In the men’s event, Gee Atherton was the best British finisher in fifth place, retaining sixth in the overall standings.

One place behind Atherton in the overall is Josh Bryceland who finished 10th in Lenzerheide, despite suffering from a hand injury sustained in the final practice session.

Laurie Greenland won the junior men's event to go within two points of the overall lead.

Round five of the seven event series takes place on 1 August in Canada.
