Ride Around London is hosted by East London based charity Access Sport. The event is taking place on 30th September and takes cyclists on a carefully planned route that shows off the best cycling in London and the surrounding areas. As a fundraising event, the money raised will help Access Sport to further support local sports clubs and maximise on the Olympic Legacy! This year riders will also be joined by Olympic Gold medallist Rebecca Romero!
The full route which is 115 miles starts at the Herne Hill Velodrome from there, riders will head towards the iconic Box Hill which featured in this year’s Olympic Road Race, then through the North Downs and onwards to Windsor Park. Cyclists will then ride through the Chilterns and the ride comes to a fantastic finish at the Lee Valley Athletic Club. Riders can alternatively choose a 60 mile route, which begins at Alexandra Gardens in Windsor.
The friendly Access Sport team will be there on the day providing full support, including fully stocked feed stations, mechanical assistance, ride timings, full road signage, lunch at the finish line and transport back to the starting area.
Registration fees start from £26 (for cycling club members) and riders can sign up on line.
Access Sport is currently focusing on an Olympic Legacy project that is dedicated to increasing young people’s participation in sport and making sure that when the athletes leave London the sport continues, particularly in disadvantaged areas. Access Sport has some fantastic Ambassadors, such as Bradley Wiggins, Rebecca Romero and Lizzie Armitstead who are also getting behind the cause.
