Frith third In Eurovets final

Coventry Devlins Newsagents Cycle Speedway team captain Dave Frith took third place in the Eurovets Final held at Hearsall Common on a heavy track.

The former British junior champion scored 19 points in an accomplished display, before finishing third in the final. Team mate Joe McLaughlin won his opening heat before fading to finish on 12 points.

Racing at Glover Park Stadium in Leicester in the Midlands League, division 2, Coventry new juniors continued their improvement in collecting their first ever Midlands League point.

In a double header, Coventry drew with Leicester Lions 65 points all in an exciting last heat decider, with Macauley Burnett heading the score chart. Liam McGuire supported well with 15 points.

Coventry found it harder going in the second match, going down 80-49 to the vastly more experienced home side. James Kirrane continued his recent fine form in scoring 12 points for the Hearsall Common outfit.

Leading junior Burnett was also in action at East Park, Wolverhampton, in the British Youth and Junior League.

He underlined his rich potential by reaching the final of the under 16s classification in his best ever performance.

The Coventry club continue their popular Wednesday evening (from 6.30pm) 'Club Night' at Hearsall Common. The sessions are open to any new rider. Bikes and safety equipment are available free of charge.

Coventry are next in action on Tuesday 15th May, when they travel to Birmingham in the Midlands League, division 2.
