British Cycling is pleased to announce the appointment of Kirstie Moore as a Board Advisor.

Whilst British Cycling is currently experiencing an unprecedented period of growth, sustained success will only be assured by continuing to reflect on the business, its priorities and future opportunities. One such priority is the further engagement of women in all areas of the organisation, and the cycling community in general, and this will be an initial area of focus for Kirstie.

Current initiatives such as Skyride, Breeze and Cycletta provide fantastic cycling opportunities for families and offer women better access to recreational cycling and women's specific events. It is initiatives such as these that will help shape a future strategy that provides integrated and flexible opportunities for participation in cycling at all levels.

For the past nine years Kirstie has worked for the English Institute of Sport – she was part of the team that set up the organisation in 2002 and she now works as National Projects Lead. She also provides consultancy and strategic support to a number of other National Governing Bodies.

In addition to the professional skills that Kirstie brings she has a wide range of personal experiences within the sport of cycling and is passionate about bringing these to British Cycling's Board. Kirstie has a Masters degree in Sports Science and in 2008 graduated from the University of Bath with an MBA.

Kirstie commented on her appointment: "I am delighted to be joining British Cycling at such an exciting time for the sport. I have benefitted hugely from my involvement in cycling throughout my life and I’m passionate about others having access to the opportunities in cycling that I have had.

“My more recent experiences as a mother have helped me understand how difficult it can be to do something you love and have made me appreciate programmes such as Skyride which provide an opportunity to cycle in a safe environment as a family.

“I look forward to working with the Board, President and CEO to support the planning and delivery of what looks set to be an exciting future strategy that seeks to provide further opportunities for involvement in cycling across all levels of the sport."
