A major national text-to-win-tickets promotion is underway offering members of the public the chance to enter daily competitions to win London 2012 tickets by text.

Run in conjunction with the Team 2012 Appeal newspaper partners, the Sun, the Times and the Sunday Times, with support from BT as official Olympic and Paralympic partner, all profits will go to the Team 2012 fundraising appeal.

Over 1,500 tickets are up for grabs and will include Opening and Closing ceremonies, 100m finals, swimming finals, cycling finals and many, many more. The competition will run in the Sun and the Times from 5-12 November and in the Sunday Times on 6 and 13 November.

Olympic modern pentathlon silver medallist, Heather Fell, said: “A home Olympics will be a once in a lifetime opportunity, both for athletes and the whole country, and this is a great chance for even more people to get involved.

“The funds raised by Team 2012 go a long way to support athletes striving to make it to London and it’s fantastic to know the public are behind us. I don’t want to leave anything to chance and will be putting 100% into training and competing over the next nine months, the help and support I get in that period could be absolutely crucial to my success.”

Team 2012 launched the ‘Be There with Team 2012’ public fundraising appeal on 11 October and aims to raise £2 million to support over 1,200 British athletes striving to be selected for Team GB and ParalympicsGB at London 2012, with funds invested in key areas including coaching, travel to competitions, medical support, sports psychology and kit and equipment.

Donations are also being welcomed on the website www.team-2012.com and between 10 October and 27 November, anyone who donates over £5 and answers a competition question, will also be in with a chance of winning tickets to the London Olympic or Paralympic Games.

In addition, Team 2012 supporting partner, adidas, has produced a limited edition run of 250 Team 2012 trainers to support British athletes. And two lucky buyers will also be given the opportunity to go to either the Olympic or Paralympic Games next year.
