British Cycling president Bob Howden has issued the following statement in response to UK Anti-Doping's announcement regarding Jonathan Tiernan-Locke.

Bob Howden said: "British Cycling welcomes today's announcement by UK Anti-Doping. The biological passport is an essential tool in curbing the use of drugs in sport.

"We remain proud of the strong anti-doping culture developed over many years at British Cycling.

"I encourage anyone with any knowledge of doping in our sport to pass all information to UKAD."
