A six-strong Great Britain Cycling Team squad are set to compete at the 2017 UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships in Montichiari, Italy from 23-27 August.

Two Junior Academy riders will make their world championships debut, while the more experienced squad members will be hoping to make their mark after getting a first taste of top-level competition at the 2016 event.

The team

Lauren Bate will arrive at the championships having had a successful track season; her two British junior titles and three junior European bronze medals will stand the young rider in good stead for the step up to world-level competition.

Georgia Hilleard, who won the national junior keirin title in July, was a member of the junior European bronze medal-winning team sprint line-up and will be hoping to repeat the British record-breaking performance that she and Bate managed in Anadia in July.

Lewis Stewart and Hamish Turnbull will head to their second junior world championships with a year of solid training and performances under their belts.

Along with world championship newcomer Alistair Fielding, Turnbull and Stewart broke the British junior record in the team sprint at the European championships and head to Montichiari in top form.
