British Cycling’s Breeze Challenge Events will return bigger and better this autumn with three rides planned in Lancashire, Warwickshire and Windsor.

The Breeze Challenge Events are exclusively for women and were launched successfully in 2014 with more than 800 women taking part.

This year, events are scheduled to take place in Lancashire (4 October) and Warwickshire (20 September) as well as visiting Windsor (23 August) for the first time. Early bird registration opens today with a 10% discount for everyone who signs up.

Breeze is Britain’s biggest national programme designed specifically to get more women cycling and the Challenge Events will bring all the fun, expertise and support enjoyed in the Breeze community and take it to the next level with distances of 50km and 100km available. The routes for this year’s rides will be announced soon.

Riders will be supported with feed stations and spectator hot spots, making the rides a great introduction to riding more challenging distances. Meanwhile, friends and family can enjoy a festival atmosphere with fun and games available throughout the day.

Breeze Challenge Events were created as a direct response to requests within the Breeze network and the women’s recreational cycling community for an increase in the number of ride options and levels of difficulty.

Since the Breeze Network launched in 2011, 55,000 women and children have taken part in a Breeze ride or event, with more than 800 women participating in the inaugural Breeze Challenge Events – in Warwickshire and Lancashire – last year.

British Cycling’s women’s cycling manager, Natalie Justice said: “We’re delighted to be bringing Breeze Challenge Events back for 2015.

“Last years’ events proved a fantastic day, and we were delighted to welcome hundreds of women cyclists to these events. This summer we’re determined to take Breeze Challenge Events even further than before.

“Breeze Challenge Events are the perfect next step for anyone who wants to train and prepare for something different as well as enjoy a great day with like-minded riders. It’s going to be a fantastic summer of events, and we can’t wait to see everyone at the start line.”
