British Cycling saddened by death of member

British Cycling is saddened to learn of the passing of member Akis Kollaros, who died following a collision with a HGV in the Homerton area of London on Monday.

Mr Kollaros was an active cyclist who raced regularly at British Cycling events, commuted regularly by bike and was a keen member of London Dynamo Cycling club.

The incident is reported to have taken place at 4.20pm on Monday near Homerton High Street and police are urging witnesses or anyone with information to call 0208 543 5157.

On hearing the news, British Cycling president Bob Howden said:

“Everyone at British Cycling was deeply saddened to learn of Akis’ death and our sympathies and thoughts are with his friends and family at this moment. Akis was a known and respected cyclist who was active in the domestic racing scene, as well as a familiar face at one of our largest clubs, London Dynamo.

“While investigations into the incident are still ongoing I would urge anyone with any information to respond to the police’s appeal immediately.”
