Officials from all the major cycle sport disciplines came together last weekend to share good practice and discuss regulation updates as the latest round of the inter-regional commissaire conferences took place in London and Bristol.

This year is the busiest yet with over 250 officials booked onto one of five conferences taking place nationwide, although places are still available for the final two events, which will take place in Leicester and Manchester on the 21 and 22 February respectively.

The conferences are led by the Commissaires and Referees Commission and supported by members of staff from British Cycling’s Cycle Sport department.

This year’s programme includes pre event planning, risk management and sanctions and disciplines as inter-discipline workshops in the morning. The afternoon is made up of discipline specific workshops led by representatives from each discipline.

Here is what people had to say about the conferences:

“It is such a great opportunity to speak to other commissaires, share ideas, become updated and have great discussions. I feel proud to work alongside so many passionate volunteers”
Colin Docker, vice chair British Cycling

“It was great to meet commissaires I have never met before”

“Today was great because I met and learnt from others and I gained more knowledge”

“I got to discuss challenging situations with experienced commissaires”

There are a few places left for the Manchester and Leicester conferences and all officials are invited.

All the feedback and suggestions from the conferences will be noted and will help to further shape the direction of the Cycle Sport Education programme in terms of discipline specific issues, commissaire communication, education and support.
