Do you want to be the next Olympic Track Sprinter? Are you born in the years 2007, 2008 and 2009? Then we have an opportunity for you!

Following the success of our Talent Identification programme for Track Sprint last year, which saw riders progress into the Talent Pathway, British Cycling will once again be looking for the next crop of talented track sprinters to take to the boards and continue the international success of British Olympic medallists Jason Kenny, Jack Carlin and Becky James. If you enjoy sports that are fast and tactical, British Cycling wants you!

The Talent ID Initiative will be launching in February 2023 in a bid to identify the sprinting potential of talented young athletes from across England, with those successful going on to join British Cycling’s Talent Development and Performance Pathways.

If you believe you have what it takes, the first step is to sign up on the form here before Friday 24 February and you might be within a chance to be invited to one of our four testing days at velodromes across England throughout March and April.

  • Derby – Saturday 11 March 2023
  • London – Saturday 18 March 2023
  • Bath – Sunday 19 March 2023
  • Manchester – Saturday 1 April 2023

You must be born in the years 2007, 2008 and 2009 to apply and be eligible for a British passport, but no prior racing experience is required – just the ability to ride a bike!

What to expect?

Each testing day will typically be broken down into three parts; a workshop delivered by coaches from the Great Britain Cycling Team explaining the cycling pathway and the exciting journey riders could go on, a number of physical tests using Wattbikes, and of off-bike tests for a chance for you to show us what you can do!

Joe Malik Head of British Cycling Talent Pathways said:

"2022 saw the launch of our successful first ever track sprint Talent ID programme where we had over 150 applications, with 16 riders progressing into our track sprint pathways. Year two of this programme sees us once again searching to find future World and Olympic champions who have the aspirations to join our World Class track sprint talent development pathway."

So if you want to have chance at being the next Olympic Track sprinter, now is your time to sign up  and see if you’ve got what it takes.
