We are pleased to announce that the British Cycling Club of the Year competition is returning for 2024, once again supported by cycle insurance experts, Bikmo.

The awards will be delivered in a new, exciting format, giving clubs the opportunity to be firstly recognised as a category winner, with one of the category winning clubs being selected as the British Cycling Club of the Year.

We have three categories that are available for nominations, and we thoroughly encourage clubs to nominate into more than one category:

Children & Young People Club of the Year presented by Bikmo

Clubs that are delivering exciting and progressive opportunities for young people to take part in club activity. This could include participation and/or competitive activity.

Inclusive Club of the Year presented by Bikmo

Clubs that are delivering and supporting activity for groups which are underrepresented in cycling. This could include riders with a disability (Limitless programme), clubs that are in hard to reach communities, women and girls specific clubs or faith specific clubs.

Innovative Club of the Year presented by Bikmo

Clubs that are supporting their activity with new and different methods. This could include use of technology support (session delivery or club management), clubs that are supporting environmentally friendly practices or clubs that have had success with their social media channels and web presence.

Applications will be through an online nomination form. Ahead of this form opening, we strongly recommend you read the nomination guidance below.

Nomination guidance

The majority of questions across all categories are open text responses with a 200-300 word limit. Please try to be as specific as possible in your examples and demonstrate the positive impact on your club.

Please be prepared to respond to questions that will be related to:

• Your current activity and its growth in the past 12 months.
• Details of your specific audiences and the challenges you have overcome (based on the chosen category).
• The programmes you have engaged with.
• Tangible examples of success (delivery or club management).

Clubs are eligible to submit multiple applications across as many categories as they see relevant. We appreciate there may be a number of individuals across the club that wish to make a nomination.

Please note that all applications will be judged on quality as opposed to quantity i.e. a lower number of well thought-out applications will stand more chance than multiple less detailed submissions.

Prize packages

The three category winners will all receive:

• £250.00 cash.
• Free affiliation for 2025 (standard club fee of £98.00 or £73.00 if part of the early affiliation window).
• A promotional film and photography session to showcase the club with a professional videographer.
• A £100.00 coaching bursary to support a club volunteer.
• An environmentally friendly winners plaque.

Chosen by a specialist panel, one of the category winners will then be announced as the overall British Cycling Club of the Year. This club will also receive:

• £1,000 cash.
• An invitation for four club members to attend the annual British Cycling Awards Event to be recognised and presented with the overall award.

The British Cycling Club of the Year competition, supported by Bikmo, has highlighted and rewarded dedicated clubs, such as 2023 winners, Pendle Panthers, as well as regional winners such as Gosport BMX.
