Aged 8 - 14? Have a go at cyclo-cross!
Cyclo-Cross is an exciting off-road discipline where races are usually multi lap events, held on short , grassy courses. Less technically demanding than Mountain Biking, Cyclo-Cross often requires riders to dismount to clear artificial obstacles often wooden boards. The ability to swap smoothly and quickly from riding to running and back to riding in one fluid motion is a key skill for advanced riders.
TRAINING DAYS: coached sessions where riders learn necessary skills ready to enjoy racing. Ability level is basic to advanced.
COACHED RACE DAYS: designated local events where coaches take new riders through pre-race preparation and tips for the event itself.

Saturday November 24th 10 - 12 Abergavenny Leisure Centre
COACHED EVENTS:
Sunday November 11th Bryn Bach Park, Tredegar
Sunday November 25th Margam Park, Port Talbot
Sunday December 2nd Pontypool Park, Pontypool
Sunday December 16th Blackweir Park, Cardiff
Who?
Any youngsters aged 8 - 14yrs are welcome to attend, regardless of ability. Participants will be split into two groups with beginners learning the basics of off-road cycle control and experienced riders practicing more advanced skills.
How much?
| Training session are FREE although registration is essential. Participant is responsible for event entry fee.
How?
EQUIPMENT: Participants need a suitable cycle - mountain bikes are ideal. Welsh Cycling have a limited number of loan cyclo-cross bikes for riders 8 - 13 years.*
CLOTHING: Cyclo-cross is an outdoor winter discipline so warm clothing is a must! Usual cycling kit with long sleeves, leggings, gloves and a rain jacket are ideal. Otherwise a tracksuit, gloves and rain jacket. Helmets are compulsory.
*Allocation of loan cycles will be prioritised to Welsh riders from Go-Ride clubs
