The area has been earmarked as somewhere to be used by the whole community

Plans to create a nature reserve at a former landfill site have been unveiled by Denbighshire council.

Proposals for the Marsh Road site, in Rhyl, went on show at a meeting in the town where members of the public were invited to comment.

The council said a recycling plant would need to be moved, but there were no plans to build a replacement plant.

The council wants to landscape the site to create wildlife habitats, a pond, and a cycleway.

Steve Parker, the council's head of environmental services, said: "We are delighted to have the opportunity to regenerate this area and give the community something they can be proud of.

"The scheme brings together leisure, sport and recreational activities in a sustainable development.

"It also gives us the chance to re-site the recycling park and turn it into a 21st Century facility."

Members of the public were asked their views at an exhibition at Rhyl Town Hall on Wednesday.

A second exhibition will be held on Thursday, 4 December at the Oak Tree Centre in Rhyl between 1100 GMT and 1500 GMT.

A final exhibition will be held at the Marsh Road Neighbourhood Centre in Rhyl on Friday, 12 December.
