Welsh Cyclo-cross 2008

 

The 2008 Welsh cyclo-cross calendar is now available - from the Welsh Cycling office or contact Liz Slater (fmsejs@btinternet.com) if you prefer the full-colour, glossy leaflet - or download from the website.

 

The season here in Wales starts on 21st September with Round 1 of the National Trophy series, promoted by Abergavenny RC at Abergavenny Leisure Centre. Entry for all categories except Under 12s is now open via the BC website (online or by post) and closes on 1st September; Under 12s enter on the day.

 

The Welsh League opener is on 5th October and will again be the Cwmcarn Paragon promotion at Risca Leisure Centre. New for 2008 are courses at Carmarthen Showground and Pembrey Country Park. With 6 rounds (out of 10) plus the final needed, you will be able to qualify for an overall League position without having to travel too far - or just enter those events that are local to you.

 

A new recreational trail has been developed in woodland next to the Visitor Centre at Parc Bryn Bach to compliment the existing BMX and closed road circuits and, although not a proper 'cross course, the hope is that it will double up as a racing circuit during the 'cross season.
