Simon Richardson Great Britain Call Up

Simon Richardson of Porthcawl has once again has been called up to ride for the British Disabled Cycling Team. At the beginning of May Simon went to Bilbao in Spain to do a three day stage race which consisted of four races.
Simon was quoted as saying "it was a good start to this years international racing. I am pleased with how it went and finishing second behind my main rival was a great result".
After returning home for one night Simon had to go up to Manchester to take part in the Paralympic World Cup 2008. After two days of training at Manchester Velodrome, Simon first took part in the 3K, after a great opening 1k Simon was flying around the Velodrome, with 2K to go Simon was on course for a new world record but he started to tie up with two laps to go and came in 2 sec short of breaking the world record. With the time of 3 min 58 sec was instead a new personal best and British National Record by 10 sec. Simon then took part in the 1k later in the day and being so fired up by missing the 3k world record in the morning he was on a mission. He was out of the gate like a rocket after the first two laps the British coach was screaming at him to keep it go, he was now doing 17 sec laps and up on the world record, he finished with a new world record time of 1m17.7 sec which was 1 sec faster than the world record.
Simon was quoted after as saying "We knew the world record was on it was just down to me to do it on the day. The team I have working with me have done all they could to get me ready".
After leaving Manchester Simon then travelled to Newmarket to continue his winning ways in the Rudy Project Time Trial Series.
