East Newport CSC receive grant boost300806_Aaron_Hughes

East Newport CSC have been awarded a grant totalling £4200 from the Sports Council for Wales towards developing their facilities and equipment. The club will now have the necessary equipment to start accommodating the younger riders who turn up on training nights but as yet have not been able to enjoy the thrills of cycle speedway on bikes built for their size. The attractive Larch Grove circuit will have a new vandal proof portakabin, new bikes, helmets, gloves and their safety fence finished off with chain link fencing installed around the full perimeter. The club will also fund 2 members to become full BCF coaches to assist current coach Pete Sadler with the expected upturn in rider totals coming to Welsh club.

The forward thinking club have already produced some attractive "come and try it" handouts and some advertising boards and this has seen increased numbers at training nights already. Hard working club chairman, Rich Hughes, was thrilled with the exciting news. "of course this means more weekends working on our track but next year we will have one of the best tracks around with our ever growing facilities". Team Manager, Nigel Clark, was just as thrilled. "we already have some exciting new blood in the club and this will create some new excitement in the club as a whole" he told the editor of the club newsletter.
