Tops South West BMX League

Welsh BMX rider Ashley Ransom has ended the South West BMX Summer Season 2009 in the number one position. After the final round at Bath BMX track, Ashley claimed the top spot with an 8 point lead. Throughout the season Ashley has been improving his regional racing over the nine rounds to beat the competition in the Male 16 category.
Ashley trains at Parc Bryn Bach BMX track and rides for PS Cycles and Tred BMX Club. His performance has also improved in the British National BMX league. In 2008 he finished at position 41 but at the end of the season in 2009 after ten rounds of racing accross Britain, he moved up to 13. Looking ahead to the British Championships the weekend of the 19th - 20th September in Cheddar, he hopes to equal or better this result.

Ashley Ransom has achieved success in the first and second rounds of the 2009 British BMX National Series in Derby. Ashley was riding for Tred BMX/PS Cycles over the Easter weekend. It is the first time for him to reach the finals of a national series round and is a great start to the BMX season for Ashley, as he had to pull out mid-season in 2008 due to injury. He finished in 5th place in the B Final on both days. This has improved his place in the national rankings moving him from 41st in 2008 to 13th at the beginning of the 2009 series.

Ashley Ransom is from Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent and attends Tredegar Comprehensive School where he is currently studying towards his GCSE’s. He practices daily at the BMX track in Parc Bryn Bach where Tred BMX Club is based, and also on BMX tracks in the south west of England where he competes in the South West Regional’s.
