High Performance
High Performance
Welsh Cycling’s High Performance programme is led by the High Performance Coach, Julian Winn, and Wales Talent Team Coach, Stuart MacDonald.
The main goals of the High Performance programme are to ensure that Welsh Riders, both Junior and Senior, achieve the eligibility criteria to be considered for British Cycling’s Performance Programmes, and to achieve success at the Commonwealth Games, to be held next in Delhi 2010.
The High Performance Coach works with junior and senior riders with the aim of getting them selected for the British Cycling Olympic Development Programme or achieving the minimum selection criteria for the Commonwealth Games. These riders can represent Wales around the world throughout the year and perform at the upper levels of the sport in the UK.
The Talent Team Coach works with riders who have been selected for the Robert Price Wales Talent Team. Each year, over 1000 Children across Wales are tested for their aptitude for cycling, and up to ten can be selected for a three-year programme of quality coaching and development. The main goal is to ensure that these riders achieve at least the minimum eligibility criteria to be selected onto the either the British Cycling Olympic Development programme or the Wales Junior programme.
Further details on the programmes can be found by calling the Welsh Cycling office on 01633 670540.
