Carol Leigh (Track Commission)

Paul West writes:
Carol has worked as an official on the British Cycling senior National track championships for more than 25 years.  She is an active track commissaire and organiser of the Manchester Regional track league for the past 10 years.  She has acted as a Regional official in the past and is a committee member of the Manchester Wheelers.  She is a considerable asset to the sport of track cycling.

Jim Court (Cyclo Cross Commission)

Brian Furness writes:
Jim has been a member of the cyclo-cross committee then commission since the mid sixties (from 1966!). Within that Commission he has been a member, membership secretary and the chair from 1995-2006.  He is the leader of the national judging team for cyclo-cross and has developed a training programme for judging over a number of years.

He has been the chief judge at three World Cyclo-Cross Championships.   He was formerly an official of British Cycling Manchester Division and organiser of Tour of the Peaks,  JIm is the founder and secretary of Stockport Community Cycling Club and also a National Commissaire in Road and Cyclo-Cross.

Pete Kirk (BMX commission)

Roger Wilbraham writes:
Pete Kirk has been involved with BMX racing since the mid 1980s when his son and daughter both took up the sport and, not to be outdone, Pete also competed regularly at Regional and National level in the Cruiser classes – obtaining a number of good series and championship results.

Following the demise of the original Ray’s Radicals BMX club in Milton Keynes, Pete, with a couple of other fathers, took on the reigns and reformed the club as the MK Crew in 1990 and took the role of club chairman, a position he has held until the end of 2006 when he decided to stand down. Pete also got involved in the East Anglia Regional Committee and has been a stalwart for the region throughout his time in BMX racing.

Soon after the formation of the MK Crew Pete had his arm twisted to do a bit of race commentating at regional level – a role he soon revelled in and rapidly rose to national and home international level events which he continues to do although he has threatened to reduce his work load a bit. It should be remembered that a national BMX race can include around 400 races in a 6 hour period so it is hardly surprising that on occasions when Pete has been the sole commentator his voice is failing by the end of the day.

Rod Scott (Track Commission)

Robert Jefferies writes:
Rod has been a fixture at the national track cycling championships since the 1980s.  He is a highly respected National Track Commissaire who is renowned for his calm decision making and appropriate interpretation of the rules.  Rod has built up his reputation by attending all sorts of cycling events from youth races to World Championships and Commonwealth Games.  He was also involved at a club level with the Harlow CC until it was demolished in the 1990s and continues to regularly officiate at Welwyn and other tracks.

Ivor Armstrong (Road Commission)

Robert Jefferies writes:
It's often said that if you want something done you should ask the busiest person you know.  Ivor certainly falls into this category, Cycling Development North West promoted 35 races in 2006 and plans are in place to increase this amount in 2007.  In addition to this Ivor is an active member of Ribble Valley Juniors a successful Go-Ride club with club mark status and active Commissaire and the North West Regional Competition Administrator.

Michael Moore (Commissaires Commission)

Robert Jefferies writes:
Michael Moore has been a senior judge at Hearn Hill track since the early 1960s.  In 2005 he received the gold badge of honour from the South East region for his services there.  This year his practical methodology has been incorporated in the recently written training for assistant track commissaires.  The high quality and clear thinking of his officiating, judging and decision making have long been appreciated by people involved with track racing at Hearn Hill.

Ivan Pike (Cycle Speedway Commission)

Mike Hack writes:
Ivan Pike has been involved with organising the British Youth and Junior Cycle Speedway League for a number of years, assisting Mel Perkins in this capacity.  This is as well as his general work with Ipswich CSC, based at Whitton Sports Centre, and assisting with England Junior teams racing abroad. He has been a great servant for the sport of Cycle Speedway.

Dave Flemming (Cycle Speedway Commission)

Mike Hack writes:
Dave is the chairperson of the South East Cycle Speedway Region and also serves on the Cycle Speedway Commission as the South East delegate.  He is the manager of the British Cycle Speedway Premier League.  He has been involved in the sport since the 1960s and has been on the National Committee for Cycle Speedway intermittently since the 1970s.  He is the Chairperson of the East London Cycle Speedway club, based at Canning Town Recreation Ground.
