National Tandem Sprint Championships and Youth Omnium North Region Round
A great day of racing took place at the Lyme Valley Stadium (Staffordshire) as the Newcastle Track Cycling Association promoted the Unigraph Design National Tandem Sprint Championships and Round of the North Region Youth Omnium.
Tandem Sprint
The tandem sprint racing was close fought as 8 tandems raced with a mix of exciting battles and controversial decisions. In the end, Jonathan Norfolk and Anthony Kappes won the gold medals in a 2:0 victory over defending Champions Anthony Churton and Simon Gill. The Yasumitsu Schlapp team had a great event as all four of these riders ride for the Schlappers! Last years silver medallists John Saysell and Ben Elliot won the bronze from Neil Campbell and veteran Dave LeGrys 2:0
Youth Racing
The youth racing saw an excellent standard of riding as our stars of the future performed in time trial, points race, keiren and scratch race rounds with youth A,B,C,D boys and girls. Local rider Robert Lambton won the highly competitive under 16 boys event. Full results are listed below.
Paul Barber the organiser would like to thanks our sponsors Unigraph Design http://www.unigraph-design.com/ and British Cycling, all the officials who helped make the event happen and the riders for putting on a great show with no incidents! Time to retire for a nice gin and tonic now! See you all next year. .... Paul
