Olympic champion wins top NE event

On a brilliant day for bike racing in the North East on Sunday, June14, Bradley Wiggins (Garmin) came to the Premier Calendar event in an effort to get in some pre-Tour de France racing and race in style he certainly did, winning the race by over a minute. In the Leazes Circuit races, Ian Wilkinson (Halfords Bikehut) was in the money on Friday night when he took home the £1000 first prize ahead of the British champion Dean Downing and Olympic medallist Chris Newton. We have a report and photos.
