Road Calendar - News, Updates & Additions

 

Here are the latest updates to the Road Calendar. This list is intended only as a guide to the events which have been amended or added - full details of all these events can be found on the on-line calendar - see "Event Calendar" button. Please check with organiser if you have any doubts.

 

Latest Amendments

 

14th of May is the closing date for the Kings of Wessex and the fee is £15. Lots of prizes available including best 3rd cat. See the Event Calendar for entry details.

 

14 March - 27 Sept 2009 - SERRL (all events): Cheques now payable to SERRL

 

10 May 2009 - West Pennine Road Race  Due to long term emergency repairs on the Uppermill circuit, we have had to move the event to another circuit.  The event will now be held on the Bashall Eaves circuit and the event HQ will be Edisford Primary School, Edisford Road, Clitheroe, Lancashire, BB7 2LN. The event start time will be 9:30 am. We will not be accepting entries on the line, however, there is currently still space in the event.  All riders wishing to enter the event should contact Pete Hey directly on 01706  379402. 

 

16-17 May 2009 - TVR 24 (Tees Valley Race 24). This event has been cancelled due to course difficulties. It is hoped to reshedule later in the year.

 

17 May 2009 - Vets and Ladies RR - event now on 27th September. All other details remain the same.

 

17 May 2009 - The Stan Robson Trophy, scheduled to take place on the Ingleby Greenhow course in North Yorkshire has been cancelled. The combination of the illness suffered by Organiser Chris Dixon, the lack of anyone suitable to replace him for the event has meant that the National B event has been called off. 23-24 May 2009 - Tour of Wessex Premier Calendar: Cancelled due to organisational difficulties.

 

23 May 2009 – WXCRL Barnsfield Summer Series No.2 closed circuit racing replaced by WXCRL Woodlands Road Race due to the non-availability of the closed circuit at Barnsfield Heath.  The race format is now a single Regional C+ road race on the Woodlands-Horton Circuit, open to all categories (but, regrettably, no Youth racing of course because of the open roads).  Race start 10:30 am from Woodlands Village Hall, distance 58kms.  See Event Calendar for revised details or go to Entryweb at https://www.entryweb.co.uk/event.asp?id=227.

 

23rd May 2009 - Totnes Town Centre Criteriums - Addition to calendar - Held on closed roads in the heart of Totnes the event should prove to be testing for the competitors and entertaining for spectators. More

 

24th May 2009 - DHC Waterside Festival of Cycling - The DHC Waterside Festival of Cycling on a closed road circuit in Hythe on Southampton Water has been postponed to August Bank Holiday Sunday, 30 August 2009 and promises to be a major attraction for visitors to the New Forest area.

 

31 May 2009 – The course for the BC South Regional RR Championships is now confirmed as the rolling 20-mile Malmesbury-Brinkworth-Minety-Charlton circuit north of Chippenham and the M4 in Wiltshire.  Note that the Senior and Junior Championship races are open to riders resident within the South Region only.  The Women's race has been opened up to riders from all regions, with the South Regional Championship awards going to the best-placed South Region riders.  See Event Calendar for details (entries still available for all three race).

 

3rd, 10th and 17th June 2009 - Concorde Road Race - new events added to the the online calendar.

 

14 June 2009 - Susies Circuits, SERRL Event 14 & Jean Baker Memorial - Contact details and Cheques to info are incorrect in the racing calendar. Susies Circuits entries should go to Susan Knight, 21 Bedhampton Road, North End, PORTSMOUTH, Hampshire, PO2 7JX and cheques to Racing Club Omega. SERRL Event 14 entries should go to Kim Anderson, 4 Teal Way, Iwade, SITTINGBOURNE, Kent ME9 8QU and cheques to SERRL. Jean Baker Memorial entries should go to Michael Haddon, 25 Alveley, NR BRIDGNORTH, Shropshire, WV15 6NS and cheques to Wyre Forest CRC.

 

14 June 2009 - Billy Warnock Memorial RR - The Billy Warnock RR, promoted by the Falkirk BC, due to take place on the 14th of june has been postponed. It will now be run on the 9th of August at 10 am. This is the weekend befre the national RR Champs and will be the last chance for a try out before the Champs! Strip is at the Grangemouth Rugby Club. Flat course with one small (200yards) big ring climb, and a railway bridge! Usual generous Falkirk promotions prize list, but best to bring your own sandwiches. The bar will be open after (during and before if necessary) the race. For those who had pre enterred for the original date, please contact Tom Anderson and he will either carry your entry over to the new event or refund your entry.

 

17 June 2009 - Stone Criteriums - These events have been cancelled due to withdrawal of council support.

 

21 June 2009 - 'The Longest Day' Road Race - Cancelled due to insufficient entries.

 

24 June 2009 - White Rose League Round 4, Bradford. This event has been put back by 24 hours to 25 June to avoid a clash with the Otley Town Centre races.

 

28 June 2009 - Martin Newell Memorial Road Race. This event has been cancelled.

 

11 July 2009 - National Youth Circuit Series, Bradford. Please note that this event is now pre-entry only: no entries on the day.  Closing date is 4 July.

 

19 July 2009 - ActivCycles-Fentiman Road Race. This event has been cancelled due to it clashing with another Road Race.

 

26 July 2009 - Duncan Murray Wines Road Races - incorrectly listed in the June-August Racing Calendar as Regional B and open only to riders of categories 3/4 - the race is actually Regional A, and open to riders of categories 2/3/4.
