Peter Taylor, father of British Cycling coach James Taylor, has died after colliding with a car at Norton Malreward, near Bristol. The 58-year-old man was riding his bike south along Church Road, away from Norton Malreward, at a place known locally as Strawberry Bridge. He was in collision with a trailer being towed by a Land Rover which was being driven in the other direction.

Peter, from the Stockwood area of Bristol, was airlifted from the scene unconscious and taken to Frenchay Hospital where he later died. Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to the collision or to anyone who may have been travelling in the area at the time. The circumstances of the accident are unclear but it is alleged that the crash was head on and that Peter was wearing a helmet.

For a long, long time, Peter was the Division Registra of the BCF for Western Division - himself a senior member of the Western Road Club. The funeral was held at South Bristol Crematorium on Thursday the 4th September at 11am.

British Cycling would like to send their sincere condolences to Peter's family.
