Tour of Britain Needs You!
News Posted: 8 May 2008
The Tour of Britain is back and this year it's bigger than ever before. Now the organisers are asking for volunteers to help recreate the success of previous years.
The 2008 event will visit no less than fifteen host venues, nine of which are brand new to the route. This gives you more opportunities to volunteer and be a part of this premier international event. The GB Cycling Team has already signed up for the Tour of Britain, as have UK teams Plowman Craven and Rapha-Condor-Recycling.
The eight day stage race will make its 'grand depart' on the 7th September from central London, before racing through the South East, the South West, then up to the West Midlands before heading to Yorkshire, the North East and then crossing the Scottish border on the penultimate day before the big finish in Liverpool - the European Capital of Culture - where the winner will be crowned on the 14th September.
The Tour of Britain relies upon its volunteers to make this event as legendary as it is. The only thing you need to volunteer is basic common sense: your role as a marshal will involve making sure that spectators stay clear of the road, managing crossing points, making sure cars don't get onto the route and acting as an information point for spectators.
