Downing's Takes Three in a Row on Mallorca

Cinturon Ciclista a Mallorca

 

Pinarello RT's Russell Downing continued his excellent early season form with victory in the first three road stages of the Cinturon Ciclista a Mallorca, winning the first in a bunch sprint from German rider Christoph Schweitzer, the second alone, by some 8 seconds and the third again in a bunch sprint. Downing also won the points competition with some ease.

 

Meanwhile, Daniel Lloyd who was fifth in both the opening time trial and the first road stage, kept up his consistent run in the race with 6th on stage three, which lifted him to second overall. However, he couldn't quite hold on in the decisive final stage and slipped to 6th overall in the final standings.
