GB Team Named for Tour of Britain

 

2008_Rob_Hayles_01_60The riders in Great Britain colours for the 2008 Tour of Britain have been selected. Headlining  the team will be British Road Race Champion, Rob Hayles (Halfords Bikehut) who will line up in the race alongside his teammate, Tom Southam and Olympic Academy rider Ben Swift.  News Item

Scottish stage of the Tour of Britain unveiled

Stage Seven of the 2008 race has now been announced. The route will take the riders south from Glasgow, host city of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, through the beautiful countryside of the Southern Uplands to Drumlanrig Castle.

Di Luca and Petacchi to lead Italian squad’s assault on this year’s Tour of Britain

 

TOB05_60The Tour of Britain organisers are pleased to announce the identity of the 16th team who will ride the 2008 race, Italian squad LPR Brakes – Ballan, led by Alessandro Petacchi and Danilo Di Luca. Petacchi is one of the greatest sprinters ever, having won over 150 races in his career, while Di Luca will become the first winner of a Grand Tour to ride The Tour of Britain, following his win in the Giro d’Italia in 2007.

Milton Keynes to Newbury Stage Announced

Once again, with the backing of SEEDA, the Tour of Britain returns to the South East region for a third consecutive year and once again the riders are to be taken to the limit over a route of nearly 150km that they will be expected to cover in a little under four hours.

Longest and Toughest Tour of Britain Stage in South West

Tour of Britain 2008 Takes Cycling to the People -- Race Launch

 

TOB05_60On the 3rd of April at the London Transport Museum, Technical Director Michael Bennett and CEO Hugh Roberts unveiled the route of the 2008 Tour of Britain Michael Bennett said: “This is the most ambitious and wide reaching edition of the race to date with an 8 day route starting in the heart of London and finishing in Liverpool. From the Thames to the Mersey, this is an iconic route that presents a wonderful picture of Britain.”
