Ras de Cymru Stage Race

2nd July - 6th July, 2008

RAS

Jersey winners in the Ras de Cymru including the Worlds top female racer, Nicole Cooke in Pink.

One of the biggest stage races in Britain for lower category male riders and all category women is the Ras de Cymru Stage Race. At the race on a few of the days for British Cycling was Dave O'Nyons who has sent us reports and lots of pictures. We'll update these with the results when we get them from the organisers of the event.

STAGE 1 TT

Word from the www.cyclingbargains.com racing team who were in action was that Dave Palmer suffered drama before the event even started with a puncture 2 miles from the start line. Describing the opening stage, the team told British Cycling "The prologue was 3.4 miles long with the first 2.4 miles rolling before the final mile was up a 1 in 9 mountain climb." Weather for the race eas equally dramatic as riders got soaked before the race started but then sae the roads dry up as they left the start house.

STAGE 5 -- An early start led me Storey Arm's in the Brecon Beacon's for today's 68.5 mile stage. This is the scenery that Wales is proud of and the proof of this was the countless numbers of walkers turning up with the riders at the Outdoor Education Centre suitably dressed for the inclement weather to come. The race left on time trailing down a long decent between the peaks of Pen Y Fan and Fan Fawr toward four circuits of the Brecon/Defynnog route. ...
