A total of 363 competitors took part in round three of Team Scottish Provident Isle of Man's youth league, staged in changeable conditions at the National Sports Centre in Douglas last Tuesday night.

In the novices class Isaac Kirk scored his third win in succession. Joshua Dudley was a lonely second and Ross Cameron edged out Jack Elliott for third. Fifth placed Emily Kinley headed Annabel Kneale over the line to take the girls' prize, with Finian Gelder and Joshua Haswell finishing on their own in seventh and eighth places respectively. Hayden Waddington held off the fast finishing Jonathan Corlett for ninth.

Recording his first success of the season, Callum Smith outsprinted round two winner Percy Hampton for the honours in the born 2003 & later category. Ben Grainger got the better of Matthew Black and Owen Dooley for a very good third and Jonty Bregazzi came through to grab sixth ahead of Oliver Williams, Matthew Lane and Brayden Roche. The top girl was Madison Nicol in tenth spot.

Charlie Gibson rode everyone off his wheel for another impressive solo victory in the born 2002 event. Robert Kissack edged out Aaron Lund and Tom Cain for second, with Curtis Grose coming home alone for a fine fifth. Thomas Kermode showed great improvement to take sixth ahead of leading girl Blae Cain.

In the born 2001 race Matthew Flint outsprinted breakaway partners Amelia Sharpe and Juan Kneen to maintain his unbeaten record. Adam Scarffe, Rory Donegan, Jake Vance and Riane Moffitt-Khan, who had all been in the initial break with the leading trio, filled the next four places. Newcomer Dean Rea was an excellent eighth ahead of Thomas Chatel, Finlo Neale and Daniel Lane. Peel's Wilfy Kermode led the chasing group in for twelfth position.

Tom Murray outsprinted twin brother Luke, Sam Batey and Thomas Bostock for his second success in the born 2000 class. Josh Smith and Jed Etchells lost contact with the four frontrunners on the final lap, settling for sixth and seventh places respectively. Regular top ten finisher Tommasz Boruch was seventh and Arthur Bankes-Jones squeezed out first girl Olivia Sharpe for eighth.

Sticking to the winning formula that brought him success in the two previous rounds, Conor Davies went from the gun in the born 1999 age group and was never challenged. Joseph Glover took the runners-up spot from Daniel Scarffe and fourth placed Tara Ferguson claimed the girls' award ahead of Kaitlin Slack and Eleanor Davies, who were fifth and sixth respectively.

Recently crowned North West Region champion Matthew Draper gradually pulled away from the field in the born 1998 event to secure his third victory of the series. Owen Dudley and Jordan Corkish were a safe second and third, with Rory McCann getting the better of Dan Watterson for fourth. Nathan Hinks was sixth and Ben Cunningham overtook best girl Amy Kinley in the final stages for seventh.

Seven riders fought over the honours at the end of the born 1997-95 grouping, with Matthew Davies pipping Anna Christian for first place. Ashley Faragher was a close third followed by Eleanor Stokoe, Laura Kinley, Juan Hunter and Jamie Everitt.

The two racing bike classes were held in the worst of the weather. Matthew Bostock outgunned Matthew Davies and Leon Mazzone for his maiden win in the under 10/12's class. Newcomer Callum Donnell beat Jamie Dudley for fourth and Matthew Draper was first of the under 10's in sixth place. Laura Kinley was the best of the girls in tenth spot.

Adam Johnson ousted Thomas Mazzone in the final gallop for the line to pick up maximum points for the second week running in the under 14/16's. John Sanderson came out on top in the battle with brother Warwick for the final place on the podium, with Jack Wolstencroft and Alex Haddock, who was the top under 14, completing the top six. Alicia Corlett bagged the girls' honours in eighth position.
