Imperial Winter Series (Hillingdon)

Race 2  -  8th December 2007

Source: Race report and results from Lucy Collins

The dreadful winter weather the UK suffered on Saturday kept the entries down but all credit and courage to those who rode in conditions where the wind and rain would decide the outcome of the race.

The race split into three groups with a lead group of eight riders. Mick Hill (Team Quest) and Andrew Bye (Sigma Sport) were very aggressive in the group and worked hard to keep them away and Andrew Bye rode off the front on several occasions to try and keep the momentum going.

In the end, however, it came down to a very tight sprint with Chris Moores (Norwood Paragon) having to be content with second place, this time to Tom Hemmant (London Dynamo) with last years series winner Jason Streather (VC St Raphael) finding his form in time for third place. After the points were totted up, Chris Moores is the current Imperial Winter Series leader with 300 points.

The race was not without its controversy however and a protest was lodged about the conduct of lapped riders.  The Race Controller and British Cycling Commissaires shouted warnings at the time and the decision was made to adjust the finishing places of those riders involved.
