Former Great Britain Cycling Team Olympic Academy rider, Mark Cavendish (T-Mobile), won his second stage in the Tour of Dunkirk six day stage race, beating no less a sprinter than German sprint legend Erik Zabel (Milram) who spent most of his career with Mark's German team. With two stage victories and a third place on stage 2, Mark did enough to win his second professional stage race Points jersey after he did the same in the Tour of Britain last year.

The Isle of Man rider took full advantage of the help from his team to edge out the multi Tour de France Points jersey winner and Aussie Matthew Goss (CSC) for his third win of the season.

"All credit to Mark, who gave us anther glimpse of his enormous sprint potential. With two stage wins and the points jersey, we've got as much as we could out of this race," said T-Mobile's sporting director Brian Holm. "The entire team worked hard here all week. We are all very pleased - especially as we hadn't originally planned to race here."

T-Mobile are coming to terms with the sprinting prowess of Cavendish and put themselves at his disposal for the entire stage, showing great faith in the former World Madison champion for Great Britain. Knowing he was their best ticket to a stage win, when breaks went clear, such as the one with prologue winner Bradley Wiggins, the Magenta coloured team helped to bring the field back together in the hope their young star would do the business at the  end which he duly did. In the finishing gallop, with Milram lining up the stage for Zabel, Cavendish had his own sprint train going before giving it full gas with around 250 metres to go, crossing the line arms aloft.
