Newton Wins in the Rain

 

Rochdale Grand Prix

Rochdale, 16 August 2006

 

Chris Newton (pictured) won a rain-drenched Rochdale GP in near darkness, out-sprinting Malcolm Elliott, with whom he had forged a break. Both Newton and Elliott are renowned bike handlers and finishers and with conditions less than ideal their skills came into their own.

 

In-form Kristian House took third, with James Taylor fourth.

 

The main beneficiary from the night's racing was Elliott, who took advantage of Warwick Spence's absence to close in on him at the top of the series table - we'll be updating the series standings in the next few days (find them in the Road Racing sub menu).
