Under-16 Circuit Racing
Michelin National Youth Circuit Series Northern Final
Wombwell, S. Yorks, Sunday, 16th of July

Hot sun and quality fields added up to a great afternoon of racing at Wombwell
The Dorothy Hyman Sports Stadium in Wombwell South Yorkshire was the setting for the Northern final of the Michelin National Youth Circuit Series. The youth circuit series has been hotly contested, and riders and supporters turned out in force for this final.
The circuit at Wombwell is a recently resurfaced 865 metre motor racing track, with cambered hairpin bends, and a long finishing straight. The facility is very popular with local cycling clubs and used during the summer months for youth training.
Organiser Trevor Tennick and his team were blessed with continental weather for the event, with the track side temperature reaching 30c. The young riders didn't appear to let the hot weather affect their racing, and many took the precaution of sheltering from the sun between events.
The racing at Wombwell was top quality, with the recently won National Champs jerseys making appearances in most of the races. The return match between Helen Clayton (CC Giro) and Hannah Mayo (Raleigh ERV) who fought out the National Champs against the barriers was postponed to another date as Hannah was a non starter due to illness.
