Youth C Boys, 20km, Final
Like the girls before them, the Under 12 boys started off with a sprint up the start/finish straight to the first right angle bend and over the course of the first few laps, seven or eight riders were dropped from the leading group.
Eventual winner Jonathon Dibben wasn't hanging around and an attack by him took three riders away, Jonathon, Harry Tanfield and Sam Lowe with Hugh Carthy giving chase on his own in front of a group of four.
The effect of the attack could be seen quickly as the field was spread out around the course now. Perhaps Sam Lowe new something we didn't as a little later he attacked the other two leaders and that was the final blow for Harry Tanfield who was dropped to leave only two leaders.
Soon it was two versus two as Tanfield was joined by Carthy but with six to go, the determination of the chasing bunch saw them join the two chasers in front of them and it was going to be a group sprint for third whilst the two leaders continued apace 30 seconds ahead.
At the front of the race, Dibben tried a few digs to get away but Lowe wasn't letting him go anywhere and then the cat and mouse started with only a few laps to go. There was attacking in the chase group as well and the numbers in contention for the bronze continued to fall. The win though went to Dibbens who made it two in two years as he easily got away from Lowe in the finale whilst Tanfield showed a clean pair of heels to the rest to take third spot.
The winner, Jonathon Dibben, was very agressive through out the race and deserved his victory.
The start of an exciting race from the Under 12's
