Another rider who dominated his race was Dan McLay who spent most of the race with Samuel Fry out front but when the time came, he put the hammer down and won convincingly.

After a discussion between riders and officials, this race was reduced from two heats to a single final after a number of riders failed to sign on. Like any good circuit race, the riders got straight into the action and on the first lap, riders were having trouble keeping up with the leaders who were already sprinting in and out of the bends.

After around 15 minutes, two riders got away, Daniel McLay and Chris Nicholson and they were being chased by Samuel Fry who had seen the danger quickly to try and close the leaders down. The pace set by McLay was soon too much for the Scottish Provident rider from the Isle of Man and Nicholson dropped back, to be replaced at the front by Fry.

McLay and Fry then proceeded to lap riders and as then as the lap board showed four to go, McLay attacked Fry and although the Welwyn rider failed to give up the chase, McLay managed to open up a 9 second gap at the finish to win the Gold medal from Fry with Lewis Balyckyi winning the sprint for the bronze medal.
