CATEGORY 3-4 CIRCUIT RACE
This was won by London fireman Mick Bell who was the fastest from the small group which was all that was left after a punishing hour long circuit race around the streets of Brentwood's town centre. The rider who is well known as one of the best veteran cyclo-cross riders in the country, managed to avoid a last lap crash and sprint clear with enough time to raise his arms in victory.
A ceremonial send off by one of the day's VIPs.
Very active during the race was the rider from AgiskoViner Lee Smith.
Lee Wingate from the host club also had a few digs trying to escape the lead group that got smaller as the race went on.
Alan Lawrence has a dig in the closing laps but the riders in the leading group were letting no-one get any room to escape.
The race though was decided in a sprint finish, and despite a crash involving a couple of the riders, Mick Bell managed to avoid the goings on in front of him to stay upright and sprint clear for the win.
